This feature is generally available on our Enterprise plan. or to learn more

The Imports feature empowers users with a bring-your-own-data (BYOD) approach, enabling the seamless integration of custom company information and financial data directly into the platform. This feature is tailored to support use cases like due diligence, valuations, investment research, and more, by allowing users to easily import their own custom data sources.

The Imports process is streamlined into three key steps to ensure efficient and accurate data entry:

  1. File Upload (CSV/Excel)

  2. Column Mapping

  3. Company Preview and Import

Import Process Overview

1. File Upload (CSV/Excel)

To start the import, users can upload a CSV or Excel file containing the company data they wish to integrate into Countercyclical. The system accepts files containing a variety of fields, including company information.

File Requirements:

  • Supported file formats: CSV, XLSX

  • Maximum number of companies per import: 1,000

  • Required data structure: At a minimum, each row must represent a unique company with relevant information.

For the best results when bringing data into Countercyclical, include a company's domain as part of the initial step.

See Enrichment Data to learn more.

2. Column Mapping

After the file is uploaded, the platform will present a Column Mapping interface. Here, users will map the columns in their file to predefined fields within Countercyclical. This mapping process ensures that the data aligns with the platform's structure and is correctly categorized for analysis.

Mapping Steps:

  • Auto-Detection: The system will attempt to automatically detect and suggest mappings for common fields such as "Company Name," "Employee Headcount," "Industry," etc.

  • Manual Mapping: Users can manually adjust mappings if the automatic suggestions do not align with their data structure.

  • Validation: Before proceeding, the system validates each mapped field to ensure consistency and prevent errors in the import process.

3. Company Preview and Import

Once the columns are mapped, users are presented with a Preview of the imported data. This preview allows users to verify that the data aligns with expectations before finalizing the import.

Preview Features:

  • Data Sample: Shows a subset of the uploaded data as it will appear in the platform.

  • Error Detection: Flags any rows that contain missing values, discrepancies, or formatting issues.

Once the preview is confirmed, users can proceed with the final import.

The imported data is scoped to the user and workspace it was imported into, with each import saved as a unique entry that can be referenced, updated, or removed as needed.

Advanced Options and Best Practices

  • Data Validation: To ensure data integrity, it’s recommended to review your source data for consistent formatting and completeness before import.

  • Accessing Imported Data: All imported data can be accessed and managed through Countercyclical's Premium Search Filters, providing you with a single location for comprehensive understanding of your bespoke data.
